  1. 140/25 = 5.6 gallons.

    5.6 x 4.25 = $23.80 in gas.

I'm guessing 4 people total, since you have to count your share too, so...

    23.80/4 = $5.95 per person in gas.

  2. If the trip is 140 miles and the car gets 25 miles per gallon, then you divide 140 into 25 and get 5.6 gallons, so approximately 6 gallons of gas will get you 140 miles in distance. Now you need to multiply the 6 gallons times $4.25, so the gas will cost  $25.20.  $25.20 divided by three people is $8.40.  Each person should pitch about $9.00.

  3. about $6 if you count yourself or $8 if you dont
