Gas mileage of a 1970 Caprice?

What gas mileage did a new '70 Caprice get and accounting for wear and tear what gas mileage should one get today? My odometer does not work so i cant use that method unfortunately. I know i cant get an exact figure but what i am looking for is a ball park figure. Any help would be great . Thanx

  1. 8-12- It was built at the time when gas was cheap, and big motors, at least for domestic companies were the rage.  Also, keep this in your head, it has a carburetor too, not the most efficient.  Finally, its heavy too.


  2. you didn't say which engine you had ,those came with different engine options in that year,more than likely its a 350 so your mileage will be around 12-16 depending on the condition of the engine,if its real high mileage and has lot of wear and tear on it you,ll probably average about 14-15 overall on it,good luck.

  3. NOT SO GREAT my educated guess is 15-25 mpg

  4. I would say 13-15 mpg would not be an unreasonable guess for a 1970 Caprice... original engine? Rebuilt?  Replaced?
