Question:

Gas only coming out of one side of burner?

I have a gas stovetop, and recently, gas has only been coming out of one side of the burner, unless it is on high. Even when it is on high, the flame on one side is much higher/stronger, and when I turn it down, the other side goes completely out. What could this be?

  1. Remoce the burner rings and lift up the top portrion of the oven. Blow out the pilot light which affects the burner that is not working properly. You can then remove the gas tube which controls two of the four burners. Put it over the sink, and gently, I said gently! rap the tube against the side of the sink. You should see osme gblack crud come out, maybe in flakes. If nothing comes out, try blowing in one end of the tube. If nothing still comes out, you might have to take a piece of thin wire and gently, gently! stick the wire into those small holes where the flame does not appear. Something probably spilled once or twice and clogged the burner holes. Do not adjust the flame control, the thing with the set s***w and a sliding collar.

  2. Every brand has their own type of burner so since you didn't tell I have no idea what yours is like.

But most often the burner is just plugged up. If you have the aluminum looking ones that don't disassemble you need to clean out the those little holes.

I liked to take a piece of braided electrical wire, strip back the insulation about 1/2 inch and that makes a tiny wire brush I used to clean out the holes. That worked for me.

It could be from a spill over the burner or over time they can get a little build up in the holes of sulphur (I think) from the gas.

    It is a common problem.

    Good Luck.
