I'm not going for that c**p about "don't pump gas on May what ever day it is" that's not the answer. I don't even know what the answer is. The news keeps saying "exspect gas prices to go to $4 a gallon by the summer time"...........ok well if the media keeps telling us that...........It surely will. Will gas EVER go back down in price? Who needs to do what here........ ?

  1. If you have public transportation available in your area, take the bus and/or subway.

    Carpool

    Ride a bike.

Buy a motorcycle.  They get VERY good gas milage.

Walk - if you don't have far to go.

  2. This is obviously no longer simply a question of supply and demand. At least in the US, consumption has gone DOWN considerably since prices have been rising. Unfortunately, that is not enough to drive the WORLDWIDE price of oil.  China, one of the largest consumers, is probably more in control of use influences than the US anymore. The fact that the oil companies are still making record profits is indication that the mere price of crude is not the most influential factor.

At any rate, we can still do our part. Carpool, bike, take public transportation. My husband and I have been carpooling for a couple of years now, since prices began to rise. While it is not always the most convenient method since we don't work at the same location (but close enough to make it worthwhile), it has saved us a considerable amount of $$. Not only that, but we feel we are 'doing our part' to try to deal with the situation.

  3. I think the ony thing that will stop the oil compaies is a revolution.  the goverment is not going to help espeshaly during elections. where do you think the canadates get a lot of their money. at what point will the people of america stop complaining and take action. Our contry needs to change and gas $$$ may be that turning point!

  4. What's wrong with it?

Have one try it out with fire-woods?

    What about steam engine?

    If in emergency.

Why not try it out with a bicycle first.

Before the price of bicycle rise up too.

    Rickshaw will do.

    For family trips.

    Plenty of chinamen around.too.

    What do you think?

  5. Paprika has very good answer.  Few more tips:

Add Slick 50 into old cars (not new!) save 15% gas. Throw out extra seats, save another 10%.  Add a roof wing, not to fly but lesser gravity, maybe save another 10%.  $3=$4

Invest money into any company of castor bean for alternative oil.  The world can supply 4-5 times more than demands and maybe Singapore is leading market of castor bean production.

look into conversion of  hydro-cell kit for gasoline car to get 60mpg.  $2=$4

  6. You're lucky, here in the UK it's around £4.16 a gallon,

    that's about $8.00  And rising !

  7. In my opinion this is what needs to happen and this will not bring an immediate drop in gas prices but it will help.

First, we need to start looking for more sources for oil and we need to exploit the known sources.  With the new technology we can do these things with minimal disruption of native plants and animals.  We should be drilling in ANWAR, off the Gulf coast and in the western US.  We need to build new refineries that include the latest technology to reduce or eliminate any pollution that occurs during the refining process. We also need to be sure we have enough pipe lines to ship the gas and oil from one part of the US to another.

As we are doing these things we need to really start looking for ways of powering a car that do not call for oil products.  We already have some ways but they are very expensive, we need these ways to come down in price so that the normal American can purchase these products.

It seems to me that all the environmentalists and politicians have totally forgotten about the people who must drive to work every day.  The people who do not have $30,000 for a new vehicle that seats 2.  Until the powers that be can come up with a better plan they better let the drilling begin.

  8. The higher the demand for gas, the higher the prices.  People that buy large vehicles are as guilty as the oil companies.

  9. Obviously ONE day of SOME people not getting gas isn't going to make a big dent in the war on gas prices. I recently received an email talking about the gas wars. It stated that in order to lower gas prices, we as a people will have to stop buying our gas from the leading competitors in the industry (ie EXXON) By switching over to the competition; smaller businesses not associated with the monopoly of EXXON, gas prices would be forced to plummet. This would happen because EXXON would be forced to lower gas prices in order to compete with other chains, and those chains would lower their prices in order to compete with EXXON.... etc.

Whether this would officially work is yet to be seen... but it's a thought!

  10. I live 20 miles from work and I am going to start biking this week.  I have bike commuted to work in the past, just never this far.  Luckily we have showers at work that sweat is not an issue.  My plan is to bike at least 2 to 3 days a week if not more.

I need to get back in shape anyway.

  11. The USA has oil they just need to pump it and refine it.It is in Oklahoma,Texas,Arkansas,Pennsylvania.pro... other places too. When  bush gets out of the whitehouse it will help alot because he has made many mistakes and come on now you know he is a oil man.If the price stays high its good for him.

  12. I have found a system that works very well in fighting the rising cost of gas- the fuel eco system. I just installed a fuel eco system on my car & am now saving 15-20% on gas. Not only does the eco system save on gas but it also cuts down on harmful exhaust emissions (more green friendly) & gives more pep when driving. My dad installed one on his truck & now it performs almost as well as a car & he is saving 15%. You can check it out at www.fuelecosystem.com.
