  1. I think it's insane. Gas is near four dollars a gallon here in Kansas City, but I hear it's even more expensive around the country!! I hear Californians are almost paying five dollars a gallon.. and these d**n oil tycoons don't lose any sleep over it. Friggin' insane, man.

  2. The oil companies got nothing to do with the high prices, believe it or not.  Nor Saudi Arabia or others.

Right now pumped out of the ground 86 million barrels(x50=gallons) of oil each day.  Consumption is running at 88 a day.

Who to blame for the high price? Speculators on the stock market.  They are basically "betting" on how much we are willing to pay for a gallon of fuel....before we say "stop, I don't want it no more.   It isn't worth it."

So, the price will continue to rise so long as we continue to pay(demand) the fuel.

It will run out, make no mistake about that, ...the earth is just a large gas tank which we have been sucking on for a hundred plus years and there is no filling station. And $5000.00 a gallon may be a bargain.   But I hope to have my "Fartmobile" perfected before then.

  3. i think that whoever manages to convince me they will pursue alternate energy most aggressively gets my vote this november.

  4. They suck, but the "good news" is that they're supposed to stabilize a little & stay around $4 thru 2009.  It's not just bad for us here, it's higher everywhere else too, partly because other countries are using cars more, & they're also using bigger vehicles.  But you notice how everything else is bad here too:  housing market, job market, airline prices, etc?  But since gas affects EVERYONE vs the other things mentioned (not everyone has to buy a home, get a job, or fly if they don't have to), it's obviously getting a lot of attention.  The economy just needs to stabilize somehow to have any effect on gas prices, & I'm sure it will... it'll just take time.

  5. Americans are greedy. I think it serves us right that gas is so high priced, and I hope gas here goes up to $8 per gallon. Higher would be better. Higher gas prices will get us focused on renewable energy and get more people on bikes to commute to work.
