  1. What kind of vehicle do you drive?  If you drive a SUV try to sell or trade your vehicle in and get smaller vehicle which you can still use to support travel desires.  If you get a foreign vehicle your probably get higher gas millage and even better trade in value.

I put this magnet on the fuel line of my car.

My mileage went from 18.5 to 20.5

    That's an increase of 11%

    Here's the best part:

I don't have to keep buying fuel reformulators to put in the crankcase and gas tank.

Just a simple magnet that attatches to your fuel line that REDUCES the size of the fuel to match the size of the air so the vehicle burns fuel more efficiently.

  3. There are several things you can do.  First thing I did was start taking my lunch to work instead of eating out for lunch.  You can also car pool and I heard that this works too

  4. When you need to drive practice slow starts, if the next signal is red back off the gas and coast to the stop.  Try to drive the speed limit so that you catch as many green lights as possible, smooth steady driving uses less gas.  I run my errands on the way home from work and keep an ongoing mental survey of which stations have the least expensive gas.  In my city some gas stations are resorting to posting the "cash price" for their gas, using a credit card costs a couple cents more per gallon.

A large shopping area is within walking distance of home so I get my spouse to walk over with me on the weekends and take a small day pack to tote items home, we both get exercise and save the gas as well.  I also use my bike quite often to return library books or make short shopping trips.

In the next couple of years all-electric vehicles will become available in the US (Chevy Volt, European Th!nk and others), I'm planning on replacing our mid-size SUV with an all-electric car when the SUV wears out.  And we are thinking seriously of having solar cells installed on our roof to power our home (which then will also recharge our electric vehicle).  Yes it takes money to make this kind of investment but it will pay it self off eventually.

    Good luck and God bless!

  5. Make sure your tires are inflated to their proper pressure. Also, empty your car out of anything not necessary, garbage, books, extra CD's yada yada.Try and stay out of stop and go traffic. Good luck.

  6. Best advice of all: park it.

Walk, bike, car pool, public transit.

  7. My favorite is OPG (other people's gas).  I know my neighbors have to go out 2 times a day to drop off and pick up their kids from school.  So, I ask them to pick up items like a gallon of milk for me on their way.  Then, when I go out, I call and ask if they need anything in return.  I stack trips as efficiently as possible and always make sure I have at least 3 places to go on one trip.  I try to make all right turns because I waste less gas than waiting for an arrow or idling in the middle lane waiting for an opening.  I also don't gun the gas when taking off from a light (hard habit to break), when I see the light changing ahead, I coast into it taking my foot off of the gas and letting the car slow to a stop.  I saw a segment on our morning news that said if you drive like you have a cup of coffee on the dash it saves you gas (no fast starts and stops), so I've been trying that lately.

  8. 55 mph on highway, proper tire inflation, easy acceleration and braking, remove excess weight from the vehicle, turn off the engine and go inside instead of using the drive thru. gasbuddy.com has local gas prices all across America to find the least painful pumps.
