ok- so Ford built these ridicuous gas guzzlers because gas was cheap- well American made cars have always struggled in the auto market- so... maybe politicians raised gas prices so that all those people owning huge SUV's will be forced to buy smaller cars or hybrids- hopefully American made cars?? just a thought

  1. If Cheney had secret meetings, then how in the h**l do you know about them?

Jesus F-ing Christ, you black helicopter people really need to stop hitting the bong and quit listening to your wacked out college profs.

  2. Gas prices are not changing to better the economy, the only reason gas prices are going up is because China raised their prices because of the HUGE earthquake. Gas prices are just gonna make everyone poor and after awhile America is probably going to go into depression but maybe not as bad as The Great Depression after World War 2. I don't think anybody really cares about the economy cause politicians only care about themselves, but you don't have to listen to me

  3. Politicians have restrained some extraction of oil, and part of the strategy could be to break our addiction to oil. But they have wisely reasoned that we need to have a reserve left to be exploited when we finish using up all the foreign oil from the world.or at least all the oil that is economic to extract.

We are coming close to the end of cheap oil, but not the end of all oil. We may be only half way through using up all oil, but the rest will be costly to extract. People who own that remaining cheap oil will want to be well paid for it.

I am sure that all who own oil reserves are rubbing their hands in glee at the foolishness of Americans who have been warned as far back as 1970 that they should be making better use of the oil they have, the oil they buy.

  4. American-made cars simply can't compete in the efficiency department. Not only do they have a limited line of smaller cars, they're not as well-engineered as similar foreign cars. And they're way behind when it comes to hybrids. American car companies are basically screwed, I think.

But, as for politicians raising gas prices - no. Gas prices are up because the price of oil is up, which is because the demand for oil is way higher than the supply of oil. And that's not likely to change, no matter what reserves we open up. American oil production is in terminal decline; that's a simple fact of geology.

  5. Politicians do not control the price of gas.

  6. Actually shortly after the current moron moved into the White House, Cheney held secret meetings with the huge oil companies.  We've never been able to see minutes from those meetings - as they're all secret - as all drunks like Bush/Cheney love secrets.

Anyway, from what little we know of that meeting, this gigantic oil-price rise was laid out.  Who would benefit?  Obviously the oil companies have been the biggest beneficiary having had the highest profits of any companies in the history of the world - month after month.

Now aren't you happy that the Supreme Court was bought to put that little moron in the White House???

  7. No the whole Global Warming thing is to get more tax. To bring down the cost of gasoline we must stop the GW thing. That scares the rich and they are afraid there will not be enough fuel for their air plane. If U are a working person YOU can walk.

  8. Well, that's not the reason, but yes, higher gas prices will put a fire under the feet of people who should have switched to alternative fuels 30 years ago. The economy will continue to suffer until we get this country running on cellulose based E85 or zero point electricity.
