could be a hole anywhere in the line id change the  whole line and the ball

like the previous guy said - but also if it is really old the rubber gets weak, and will collapse on itself when running... go spend the $15 and buy a new one...

The bulb inflates by sucking fuel from the tank... if it cannot inflate with either fuel or air then it is trying to suck from a vacuum.

The most likely cause is that the air vent on the tank is blocked or still screwed shut.

First check for air starvation if thee is sufficient air make sure the ball is lined up in the correct direction of the gas flow
