I am driving from NJ to Florida....it's about 2500 miles altogether (there and back). How much do you think it would cost in gas? I know every car is different in milage and blah blah but I'm just looking for a ruff estimate. Thanks for your help everyone.

  1. You have to know what mileage per gallon your vehicle gets. That makes all the difference.

  2. I drive a Ford Focus, and on the highway I get about 300mpg. Costs me $35 to fill my tank (I live in SoCal...gas is expensive) so for me it would cost about $560....there and back.

www.gasbuddy.com is a great site that can tell you the cost of gas anywhere in the country....maybe it can help you plan the cost a little bit more exact?

  3. You are probably looking at a good $200 to $250...or around there...

  4. Do you own a pick-up? A jeep? A Hummer? A car? The cost of driving something like a hummer, large pickup, muscle car, or just a sports car, can be 3x more expensive as an economic car. Just figure out your mileage (for an estimate, just look up your make and model online and find out what that vehicle normally gets) Then take the trip distance, divide it by your mpg and multiply it by the national average gas price (something like 3.27) and that should give you a good estimate :)

  5. In a 2007 Ford F-150 I went from NC to CO about 2500(est) and I used $450.00(est). Hope this helps.

  6. when my boyfriend drove from michigan to seattle, it was about $400 total. this was in 2003. if your car gets awesome mileage, I'd say about $400. if not, then you're screwed. :( good luck though and watch out for the crazies!!
