Question:

Gas station etiquette?

I have experienced this twice in the same week. So I had to ask. If the gas station is busy why do people think it's okay to clean their cars (i.e. cleaning EVERY window the car has or cleaning out the car) even after they're done filling up? One guy seriously cleaned the every single window at a gas station that had a car wash! And the other time the lady cleaned out her truck and then even changed in the car. What's the deal? Am I complainer or are people just stinking rude?

  1. that happens to me at gas stations its so rude. i always pull away and park too so someone else can use the pump. people have no manners anymore

  2. i wont block the pump if the station is busy, but when i am on a long drive it just feels good to s t r e t c h.  whether that is washing windows or seriously reading the pump.

  3. People just don't think sometimes, and some ARE just plaine rude. They really should pull out of the space after they fuel up and then carry on with whatever cleaning they need to do. Make room for the next person. Common sense is lacking in many.

  4. well i think that ur both. on one side people shouldnt go to the gas station for a car wash. there are specific places for a car wash. secondly u shouldnt complain so much

  5. I think cleaning the windows is fine as long as you try to do it quickly.  Maybe they have dirty windows but don't want a car wash.  Some of those things are poorly maintained and can actually scratch the paint on the car.  Once I had to spend a while cleaning off my windshield because a stupid dump truck had some sort of gas leak and I got diesel fuel on my windshield and hood.  Luckily the station had actual glass cleaner and not just water.  I could barely see out the windshield!  I felt bad for hogging the pump but had no real choice and tried to do it quickly.

Actually cleaning out your trunk and changing is a bit rude though.  For that they can pull over to the side.

  6. I think if someone has all of that to do when they get gas that they should pull away from the pumps and finish parked somewhere else in the gas station lot.  It is stinking rude.

  7. Its a gas station! Theres no such thing as "gas station etiquette"! Its an oxymoron. Just as long as they dont block the gas pumps, people can do whatever they want.

  8. They use the gas station, they can do whatever they want.

  9. These kind of people get on my nerves too! Some people just think that they are so awesome that we should not mind being inconvenienced by their stupid butts. Others have absolutely nothing to do and think the rest of the world doesn't either. You should have told them that you needed gas and there is a car wash across the parking lot.
