In the same town, the same gas stations just in different parts of town, why do they charge different prices for gas? example, one station charges 2.99 a gal, the other side of town might charge 3.02 granted its only a couple cents. but if it the same company and get it from the same place why do they charge differently? If it competition then why not lower the price even more h**l teh oil companies already make billions of dollars ever day by s******g the little guys........

  1. It's all about economics - supply and demand.  The market may be slightly different in the two parts of town, as well.  Is one in a nicer neighborhood than the other?  Also, is the more expensive station the one that is furthest from civilization?  It's SOL factor...you have to pay whatever they demand because you are on E or else you are SOL.

  2. Gas will make it to $5.00 for regular  this summer if Bush don't do something.Maybe somebody in the Gov. is getting a kickback or something.Only time you can get gas at a good price now is when two more stations have a gas war.

  3. Demographics and median income depict gas prices.

  4. It's all supply and demand.  Stations near the freeway tend to charge more.  Fancy brands tend to charge more.  Gas stations in big shopping centers (for example, with a Wal-Mart) sometimes charge more due to the increased traffic.

  5. Due to different cost of transport and type of service, i know in 1990 in Saudi Arabia they get the petroleum products  free from the source, but just they pay for the transport and handling the material.

  6. because they are ripping people off the same gas that is in the ground 2 months ago they will raise the price 5 times on that paid gas they got in the need to fined and put these idiots in jail for this stuff and make a point and this gas would not be $3 to $4 a gallon

  7. It's based on who the owner is. If one thinks it can get away with charging more, then they will. But, where is everybody gonna go? The cheaper place. That's also why gas is always lets say $2.90 9/10 of a cent. One guy decided to charge 1/10 of a cent less and started to get more buisness. It's just all marketing.

  8. in my town it is based on how much traffic that station sees in a day the busy station is always higher go figure

  9. ONE STATION MIGHT BE LOCAL OWNED.AND THE OTHER A COMPANY

    STATION.
