  1. Straight gasoline will deliver about 1% better mileage. But if you have to run the vehicles in deep-freeze weather, go for the ethanol blend. It will keep the bit of water that collects in the bottom of the tank from entering the gasline and freezing.

The water will go down the gas line, but as molecules mixed with the fuel, not forming ice.

This will protect the gas line when the weather is not so cold by removing the water from the tank.

  2. yes. the one without ethanol runs better because the cars today have NOT been made for use of Ethanol. and I support the ethanol movement

  3. Gasoline contains about 30% more energy per gallon than ethanol so a 10% ethanol/gasoline mixture would be expected to have about 3% less mpg than straight gasoline.

  4. The ethanol does not deliver as much power as gasoline , but produce about the same CO2 .

  5. It is a well-known fact that pure Ethanol is a third less efficient than gasoline.  Pure Ethanol can deliver 76,100 BTUs per gallon while pure Gasoline delivers around 114,100 BTUs per gallon.

Adding Ethanol to your gas will not add more power, it will lessen the amount of BTUs and therefore lessen your gas-mileage.

So pure gasoline delivers more MPG than gasoline with 10% ethanol.

  6. The use of ethanol lowers your mpg.  My state recently mandated a 10% ethanol mix for every pump.  My mpg went from 18 to 15.  Also, if you have an older vehicle, you will probably have to change the fuel filter because the ethanol cleans the gunk out of the system and plugs the filter.
