Gasoline rc vs. nitro rc???

Question

2 years ago i got a nitro gas rc and i only got it working once when ever i tuned it so it wouldn't have a mind of it's own, it would still have a mind of it's own and it would always break and never start up. i was wondering if gasoline rc cars are different

No, no different.  If you are having problems with your R/C car, I would recommend taking it down to your local hobby shop and having one of the guys in there work on it with you.  It sounds like you either your settings on your controller are messed up or you have a bad receiver/crystal.  They'll be sure to help you there.

  You probably had a REALLY bad nitro rc model. I have a Losi 8 with an O.S. 0.28 engine ($1,100 total) and it's a nitro. I would recommend getting a quality car like that. ($600-$1,200 price range is quality.)

  I don't think gasoline is much different from nitro, although nitrous cars are faster than gas.

I work in a hobby shop and have several suggestions. One of them is being, call your hobby shop first and ask them if it's okay to bring it by to look at. Most hobby shops don't work on them but if they can take a look at it to help you find the problem then you're at a good start.

Without looking at it and going over everything, I will suggest this. Change out the glow-plug, and all of the batteries, including the one's in your car. Do not use the rechargable ones. For some reason, they don't really work that well. Then change out your crystals.

And if you can not find, nor can the hobby shop, find the problem. You can find a good car at a good cost. Duratraxx has one of the best warrenties on their cars having a one year on all stress test parts. But if you chose something CEN Duratraxx and Traxxas are good quility cars at good prices ($250.00 and on up) Most of the hobby shops know these cars the best.

Gasoline cars are slowly dieing out because they require alot more maintance, and tuning, because their engine is that of almost a lawnmower. They do tend to over heat alittle faster than most nitro cars, but they go just as fast as normal nitro cars. But they are pretty much the same thing.
