Gastritis Solutions? What exactly is gastritis?

How is it caused and finally does anyone know of any natural herbs or alternative medicines that eliminate this problem?

Gastritis is irritation and inflammation of the stomach.   It can be caused by a number of factors, such as viral infection, food poisoning, heavy alcohol intake, underlying medical issues, some OTC and prescription drugs, stress, and diet.

For acute gastritis (sudden onset, like a virus), I find it most helpful to fast for 24 - 48 hours, having only small sips of water or dilute apple juice to ease the stomach and prevent dehydration.  I also do not take anti-nausea meds during this time: your body wants to eliminate stuff for a reason, so don't fight it.

Once the stomach is calmer, start the B.R.A.T. diet:  clear broth, white rice, apple juice, and dry toast, then slowly resume eating normally.

Aloe vera juice can be a very helpful also if you can deal with it's runny jell-o like texture.

ALWAYS seek medical help if you become seriously dehydrated, your symptoms last longer then 48 hours, or are accompanied by other symptoms like a stiff neck or high fever.

For chronic gastritis, such as the kind caused by stress, it is better to seek the advice of your doctor, or  a holistic practitioner.
