Gatewood expected to win Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap
Gatewood is expected to walk away with a victory in the Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap at Epsom in England on Friday, June 1, 2012. The winner of the class-2 event will bag a cash prize of £28,013.
Stamina will be the crucial factor in the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 18 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 14:15 GMT. A total of 14 runners have lined up for action at Epsom and their names are as follows: Gatewood, Resurge, Pekan Star, Cry Fury, Stand
To Reason, Pivotman, Black Spirit, Ramona Chase, Rumh, Borug, Creme Anglaise, Ottoman Empire, Haylaman and Licence To Till.
Out of the above mentioned runners, the best chances of victory are with Gatewood, as he is in decent form right now. He has got an excellent stamina and it will be hard for his rivals to match his skills in the race.
The four-year-old colt has entered four events until now, winning a couple of them. In addition to that, he has also secured the runner up position once, which means that he only failed to make it to the top three in one race.
Importantly, the John Gosden’s trainee is carrying excellent momentum right now. He finished on top of the table in his previous outing and is likely to repeat a similar show at Epsom today.
Gatewood started off his career brilliantly, as he finished runner up in his first ever appearance. He did not look back from then onwards and continued is impressive run in the sport.
The favourite runner will be partnered by William Buick, who is a fine rider and has won numerous races at this level. He was unable to make an impression in his most recent run, but will be looking forward to turn things around today.
On the other hand, Resurge is also a very good runner and he has got some useful experience. He has entered 39 races until now, winning six of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times. Moreover, he has also secured a couple of third place
finishes.
The seven-year-old gelding was victorious in his most recent run, which suggests that he will give a tough time to Gatewood.
