Gathering Power heads market for Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden at Dundalk
Despite her fifth position last time out, the bookmakers have rated Gathering Power favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden, to be held at Dundalk on Friday, March 30, 2012.
It was a mighty close contest, as all runners crossed wire almost simultaneously. Although the filly finished fifth on the chart, she was not much behind the winner in the Tally Ho Stud European Breeders Fund Maiden earlier this month.
Today’s 5f event looks an ideal opportunity for her to record her maiden success. According to the plan, the meeting will start at 18:15 GMT.
The ultimate champion will walk away with a cash prize worth €8,625. Among the confirmed entries are: Gathering Power, Tiger Sunset, Verbal Honesty, Toccata Blue, Angela´s Dream and Versilia Gal.
The spectators at Curragh saw a fascinating show on March 25. Tally Ho Stud European Breeders Fund Maiden saw Dawn Approach sealing top place by 1¾ lengths.
The rest of the pack battled hard for top three positions. Remaining slightly unlucky, Gathering Power missed fourth spot by a neck distance. Edward Lynam’s trainee earned a lot of praise following a decent performance on her debut.
As a result of her impressive show, the bookies have declared her favourite for today’s clash. However, it is not going to be an easy outing for her. There are some powerful novices, who will fancy their chances.
Tiger Sunset is being considered as a huge threat. His trainer, J. S. Moore, has been in great form these days. On March 28, the veteran handler guided Copper Canyon to an emphatic win in the Cushionsmart Handicap at Lingfield.
Since the two-year-old is still unexposed, one cannot predict anything about him. Another contender with fair chances is Verbal Honesty. The bookies are yet to see her unleashing her talent. The two-year-old filly will look to start her career with a big
bang.
Although there are some dangerous novices in the line-up, Gathering Power looks in good position to hammer her rivals. No matter who wins, it is going to be an awe-inspiring clash.
