Are they like beets, where you have to dig them up and keep them over the winter, or can you just leave them in the ground?

Yes, I KNOW I could buy all the radish seed I'd ever want, I just want to do it this way!

Has anybody actually done this? Or know definitely from someone who has?

Thanks for your kind consideration!

  1. You should know that you want to grow the radishes in partial shade and not the full sun. I have done this and I know if you grow them in the sun they will produce radishes. But if you grow them in partial shade they won't produce radishes and will go to seed. Meaning they will make flowers only.

After about a month of having the flowers pull them out of the ground- root and all. Hang them upside down in bunches in a dry environment like a shed or garage. Lay down some plastic on the ground underneathe. The seeds will fall along with the flowers and you will have to seperate the seeds from the flowers.

  2. 1. Radishes will make seeds in one year (not like beets).

    2. Don't put the bag around until it is finished flowering. You need the bees and flies to get to the flowers or yo won't get any seeds.

    3. Put the bag on the seed pods after it finishes flowering. This will keep the seeds from getting 'thrown' on the ground by the bursting seed pods.

    4. Have fun!
