Gatornational Crash, 1975?

I witnessed a crash at the Gatornationals in 1974? or 1975? which took the life of a jet car driver. I remember it was the guy's birthday and he spoke prior to the run. Does anyone have further info on this awful crash?

It was a rocket car. Apparently it crashed at the 74 and 75 Gatornationals. Here are some details....
