Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh leave early for England tour – Cricket News Update
The hard-hitting top-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364, along with three other Indian players, left for England on Tuesday morning to participate in the forthcoming crucial series against the Poms, while the rest of
the twelve players, including skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, will join them later.
The other players who boarded the British Airways flight to London from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airportof http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WP-Saha-c2800, and pacers Zaheer Khan and Sreesanth.
All the five players missed the recently concluded tour of West Indies but were picked in the 17-man squad to tour England this summer.
Gambhir, Yuvraj, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398 were nursing their injuries while Saha was not picked in the squad which toured the Caribbean for five One Day Internationals, one-off T20 International and three Test matches.
Gambhir missed the West Indies itinerary due to an injured shoulder, an injury which he had sustained during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders’ last match of the Indian Premier League 4.
The batting maestro, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sachin-Ramesh-Tendulkar-c87800, also missed the West Indies series as he wanted to spend some time with his family after a hectic season. He is already in England and will join the team in training camps from there.
Rest of the team, barring swashbuckling opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, where they defeated the Caribbean side in both the One-Day and Test series.
Sehwag also missed the West Indies tour due to a shoulder surgery. He is recovering from the surgery and is a doubtful starter for the opening Test of the tour, starting from July 21 at Lord’s.
During the two-month long tour of England, MS Dhoni and his Men in Blue are scheduled to play the hosts in a four-match Test series followed by a one-off T20 International and five One Day Internationals.
The opening Test will be staged at the historical Lord’s venue. The second Test of the series will be played at Trent Bridge, third at Edgbaston while the fourth and the final Test will be held at Kennington Oval from August 18 to 22.
