The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, Gautam Gambhir, on Wednesday backed Manoj Tiwary’s slow batting against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians in an IPL match played at Wankhede Stadium, as the tourists could amass only 140 for 7 from their stipulated 20 overs.
Tiwary, who was the leading run scorer from Kolkata outfit last night, played a 41-run knock from 43 balls, hitting just four boundaries. Backing the Bengal-born middle-order batsman, Gambhir said that he provided the side stability with some responsible
cricket and this is what they needed after losing the top three batsmen in the ninth over, inside the fifty-run mark.
“Manoj gave solidity to the batting,” said the KKR opener after a 32-run win over Mumbai Indians.
“He came after we lost two quick wickets, so he had to stay there to steady the innings. I think under the circumstances, he did a fine job,” he added further.
