<p class="x_x_x_news-body">Indian left-handed batsman, Gautam Gambhir, would not be able to play in the Champions league T20 (CLT20) qualifier for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as he was injured during the fourth Test against England at the Oval, and has not
recovered as yet. The South African all-rounder, Jacques Kallis, will lead Kolkata Knight Riders in his absence.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">Gambhir was sent home from the tour of England in the start of this month after he sustained a concussion while trying to catch Kevin Pietersen on the third day of the final Test at the Oval. After getting injured he was advised a
complete rest for ten days along with medical treatment.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">Venky Mysore, Kolkata's chief executive, said in a statement that &quot;the decision to play was completely left to Gautam and his doctors and hoped he would make a quick return to the game&quot;.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">A Kolkata team official shared that Gambhir, the Skipper of the (KKR), may be able to recover in time for the main tournament, therefore, the KKR ought to pass the qualifying round successfully. The qualifying round will start from
19 September, 2011 and will end on 21 September, 2011.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">The left-handed batsman has seen a leading neurologist in New Delhi after returning home and his doctor is delighted to see him recovering rapidly.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">He has been advised to exercise regularly. Kolkata are hopeful that if they go through to the main tournament, the left-hander would then have had another week to recuperate and prepare for the first game in the main phase, on September
25, 2011.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">India have lost the Test series as well as One Day International (ODI) series in the absence of the young dashing left-handed middle-order batsman. Now KKR will also be deprived of the services of Gambhir which will be a great loss
for them.</p>
<p class="x_x_x_news-body">Moreover, KKR will also not have the services another left-handed batsman, Eoin Morgan, due to his shoulder surgery and the right-handed batsman Brad Haddin, who cannot participate in the competition due to his team's Test series
against Sri Lanka.</p>
