The Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders skipper, Gautam Gambhir, admitted on Saturday that the bowling brigade of Royal Challengers Bangalore used the home conditions at the M Chinnaswamy stadium better than his side’s attack as the tourists lost the Indian Premier League
match by four wickets.
Gambhir said that the wicket at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore was quite soft in the beginning and the ball used to stop a bit before coming on the bat.
However, he said that the credit goes to the Bangalore attack for capitalizing on the home conditions.
"The wicket was spongy to begin with and the ball stopped a bit. Charl Langeveldt bowled in good areas. We can't take that away from their bowlers," Gambhir said while addressing to the post-match press conference.
The 29-year-old top order batsman hailing from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 and his men but it did not work the way they had wanted it to as the Knight Riders lost quick
wickets inside the powerplay overs – including one of the skipper himself.
The visiting skipper was also not happy with the weather conditions, as he said, “The rain interruption set us back.”
When asked about the positives he and his team have taken from the four-wicket defeat, Gambhir said, "I think there are some positives to take from this game, like we stretched it to the final over. We need one win from two games and that’s all I will be
telling the team."
Talking about Chris Gayle's whirlwind 38-run knock of just 12 balls, the Kolkata skipper said they had plans with them for the hard hitting Caribbean opener and they tried to execute the plans as well but they did not work.
Yesterday, the Kolkata skipper was named as India’s captain for the One-Day and Twenty20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
He said there was a lot of talent in the squad announced for the Carribean tour and hoped they would do well. He however conceded that the presence of senior players like Sachin Tendulkar, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zaheer-Khan-c98451 will be missed during the
tour.
