Gautam Gambhir lauds the team spirit of Kolkata Knight Riders – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, is ecstatic about winning the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday, but warned his team of complacency.
The Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first at the Eden Gardens. Gambhir led his team from the front and played a smashing knock in order to help Kolkata post a massive total of 190 runs for the loss of four wickets in the quota of 20 overs.
The left-handed opener scored 93 runs, which came off only 51 balls with the help of nine boundaries and five huge hits out of the park. As a result of his innings, the home team won the match by a comprehensive margin of 47 runs.
He was given the Man of the Match award for this splendid innings, but the left-hander is of the opinion that his best is yet to come in the tournament, which is surely a dangerous sign for all the bowlers.
Gambhir is being very modest after the match and refuses to take the sole responsibility for the win against RCB. He was all praise for Brendon McCullum and Jacques Kallis, who played crucial little cameos to help their team’s cause against one of the top
teams of the tournament.
The captain said, “This was not my best innings. The best is yet to come. We don’t want to be complacent. The KKR batting is not only about me. Don’t want to take the credit away from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692. See, when you are batting first against
a team like Royal Challengers Bangalore, someone had to bat through the innings. I have been just fortunate to carry on till the 19th over.”
While commenting about missing out on a hundred, Gambhir expressed that it is all about winning matches for the team and personal achievements are not as important when the team is winning. The skipper also lauded the atmosphere within his team.
“I think there is no one in the KKR team who thinks about achieving personal milestones. No one in dressing room thinks so. We play as a unit,” Gambhir added.
