Indian left-hand opener, Gautam Gambhir said that he is not concerned about his run drought, which has seen him without a three figure score since January this year.
The left-hander has been an integral part of the team and was among the lot that won the coveted World Cup 2011 by beating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the final. After achieving such humongous feat, injury and loss of form resulted in the player failing to stamp his usual
authority.
He had mediocre outings in the 4-0 Test drubbing at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in July-Aug, while concussion on the same series forced him to miss the ODI clashes. He returned for the home series (five limited over fixtures) against the Poms and even though failed
to make a century, was influential in helping his team to claim a series whitewash.
The recently concluded series against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 again witnessed Gambhir failing to spend substantial time on the crease; however, the player is not concerned with the dip in form and wants to produce innings which are helpful for the team’s cause.
“….There is a phase where I have not scored a hundred in a long time. But at least I have been scoring decently and I have been pretty consistent. I do not want to score a hundred in one innings followed by a lot of low scores. I would rather have four or
five good, decent scores that will contribute to the team's cause,” said Gambhir in an interview with ESPN cricinfo.
Like many of the Indian stars, the 30-year-old has been a regular in all formats of the game, both for club and country. Barring from a few injury breaks inbetween, the player has featured habitually for the national team while also had the added task of
leading his club outfit, Kolkata Knight Riders in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League and also in the 2011 Champions League T20.
“When you are constantly playing cricket, all three forms, you hardly get any time to adapt quickly mentally [and get] into the frame of mind needed for each format,” added Gambhir on the additional workload.
However, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 travelling Down Under the player needs to make most of the opportunity and get among regular run getters in order to topple a strong Kangaroo unit.
