Gautam Gambhir not happy with the Indian bowlers – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, the Indian opening batsman, is not happy with his team’s bowling performance so far in the five-match One Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka and feels that they must improve, if India is to compete with top teams.
Historically, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has always been known for its high quality batsmen and has not produced too many great bowlers, unlike some of the other cricket playing nations. The on-going series has not been different, the bowlers not being able to perform up to
the mark, especially in the closing overs, leaking 90 and 97 runs respectively in the last 10 overs of the first and the third ODI.
In the second match at Hambantota, where the visitors were bundled out for only 138 runs, the Indian bowlers once again failed to make an impression, allowing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 to run away with the show and chase down the total for the loss of just one scalp.
Despite the fact that India won the third ODI and is leading the series 2-1, the left-handed opener is extremely disappointed that the home team scored at will in the death overs, taking the score past 280, although it did not look probable by the end of
the batting power-play.
"We just didn't bowl well in the last 10 overs," Gambhir expressed. "You can't afford to give 95-odd runs in the last ten overs, when they have literally two new batsmen at the crease, Angelo [Mathews] and Jeevan Mendis.
The left-hander himself scored a blistering hundred to help his team chase down the formidable total in the very last over of the innings.
Gambhir is of the view that the Men in Blue must raise their game with the ball, if they want to be a daunting opposition.
"If we want to be a quality side in the future and if we want to win consistently we just need to work on the last ten overs, the way our bowling is. We have given a lot of runs in the last 10 overs in the past as well. We will learn from our mistakes very
soon," he added.
