Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain, Gautam Gambhir, is disappointed after a couple of losses against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians and Chennai Super Kings but the left-handed opener is still optimistic about his team’s chances in the tournament.
After a nail-biting encounter, Chennai defeated KKR by five wickets on Monday to keep its hopes alive in the tournament. However, KKR is still sitting pretty on the points table with 17 points after 14 matches and just one victory in the remaining two matches
will ensure a play-off berth to the franchise.
Historically, KKR has not done that well in the cash-rich league but the current season has been an exception as Gambhir and company has played some brilliant cricket in the tournament and has shown extra-ordinary team-work. This is precisely the reason
why KKR has done well, even without individual brilliances.
Gambhir feels that his team lost against Chennai but not after playing bad cricket. The left-handed batsman is not looking too far ahead in the tournament and is taking things as they come.
"We can take a lot of positives out of it (the match). With the kind of cricket we are playing, hopefully we can turn it around pretty soon. If we go and win one more we may go to the top. It's just a matter of playing each game as it comes," he expressed.
Chasing a total of 159, Chennai was off to a blistering start through http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379 smashed a full-toss out of the park to seal the victory
for his team.
Gambhir expressed that it was not easy to score runs once the ball lost its shine. However, KKR’s skipper praised the performance of his bowlers, who brought their team back into the match after a rollicking start by Chennai.
"We always knew that it would be tough for them (CSK) once the ball gets old. The way they started and the way we got back into the game I think a lot of credit needs to go to the bowlers," Gambhir said.
