India’s opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, has acknowledged that the Indian team have been failed to perform consistently, and also hoped that they will prove themselves in the upcoming challenges.
“Look, it’s not about rankings alone... It’s very easy to become the No.1, but very difficult to sustain it... We haven’t played good, smart cricket on this tour, but it’s a long one, with plenty still left... One series doesn’t make one a good or a bad team,” India’s vice-captain, Gambhir said.
He was responding to the criticism which has been raised after the India’s stunning and shocking defeat against England in the ongoing Test series.  
During the first 3 Tests of the 4-match Test series, the English side have been on top of India in every department of the game, whereas, the Indian team showed an unimpressive recital against the home team, which eventually led to their series defeat.
India has loss its World’s number 1 position as well, going 3 down in the series, while the last Test will be started from August 18, at the Kennington Oval in London.

“I can’t say why we haven’t been able to fight back so far... He also defended the poor fielding status of the India team, which they have displayed in the ongoing series so far.
