Gautam Gambhir wants Gary Kirsten to stay on as coach
India opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527 is the best coach that India could ever have and that his contract should be renewed after the
2011 edition of the cricket World Cup.

Speaking to the media in Kolkata, Gambhir said, “Gary is certainly the best coach we have seen for the Indian team. All the players have been saying regularly that India needs Gary as the coach. I don’t need
to speak much about him,”

He added that Kirsten’s amazing record spoke for itself and that he was one of the best at managing players that the side could have.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 had given a lot of credit to Kirsten as a coach and said that a lot of their individual and team successes were due to him. Tendulkar had credited Kirsten with the turnaround
in his own career on the occasion of winning the ICC Player of the Year award.

Gambhir added that he was with Kirsten on his idea of sending the team a week in advance for the recent Test matches in South Africa. He reasoned: “Of late, we haven’t played much cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
So, it will be a great idea if we go there a bit early to get used to the conditions. If such a thing happens, it may just work in our favour.”

The southpaw also spoke about his own fitness and expressed that he was fully fit to play in the Tests against New Zealand. However, he did say that the Indians will only take New Zealand for granted at their
own peril.

Gambhir said, “You can never take any international side lightly. Just because http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 beat them 4-0 doesn’t mean that we can take it easy against the New Zealanders. Their team consists of some proven
match-winners… So, we need to be very careful and can’t take things for granted,”
