Gautam Gambhir wants KKR players to sustain winning momentum – Cricket News Update
The Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447,  has advised his players to extend their winning momentum to the last game of the group stage so that they seal a place in the semi-final round of the ongoing Champions League T20 tournament.
Talking to the media after winning a Group B match against Royal Challengers Bangalore last night, Gambhir revealed that the KKR aimed at finishing up the group stage with one of the top four positions.
The captain also commended his players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 for their match-winning knocks and urged the lagging ones to improve themselves.
He expressed some concerns regarding his bowlers’ show in death overs, telling that they needed some uplift in this arena.
Gambhir said, “We have a lot of talent in the dressinmg room and today we did well. We have one game in group stages left and we have to maintain the same intensity level. Today Brett and Kallis bowled tremendously in the first six overs. But we have concerns
regarding our bowling at the death and that needs to be addressed.”
The leader played an instrumental role in yesterday’s victory by lashing 55 runs not out. He played 31 balls to hit 3 fours and 4 sterling sixes.
Chasing down the handsome target of 170 runs, the KKR openers, Kallis and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170, scored 64 and 42 runs respectively to steer their side to a convincing win. In the bowling department, Lee grabbed two wickets for just 34 runs.
Commenting on the match, Kallis said, "We played some poor cricket in the last two games, and we needed the senior players to put up a big performance today, which they did. Brad got us off to a quick start, and after that we just had to stay there and see
it through."
Gambhir, who joined the team in the midst of the tournament after recovering from injury, was optimistic about clinching the maiden title.
The 29-year-old has a rich career in limited-over cricket, having 23 T20Is and 90 T20s to his name. He took over as the KKR skipper in the Indian Premier League 4, held this year.
