Gambhir is very excited about the captaincy challenge in the absence of senior players as he considers it a dream come true and is hopeful of living up to the expectations. He said that it is the challenge of delivering without the seniors, which he accepts
and will enjoy with open arms.
He said that although the upcoming World Cup is not too far, he is more concerned about the series with New Zealand and the obvious goal is to win the series as one cannot forget that it is an international series and we are playing for our country no matter
which players you include in the squad.
Gambhir is very optimistic about a couple of his middle order batsmen, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina, despite their batting lapses and out of form shows. He regarded Yuvraj as the biggest match winner that India has ever found in the lower order.
Yuvraj was not part of the Asia Cup earlier this year due to several fitness concerns but according to Gambhir he is totally fit right now and he already made a half century in his last match and also did really well in a tri-series in August in Dambulla.
He just needs to play one big innings then he will be back to his best.
About Raina, Gambhir said, that Raina has made one one half century in his last 15 ODI innings and he was also quite unsuccessful in the Tests against New Zealand as he made only 26 runs in four innings. But test cricket and one day cricket are totally different

Gambhir said that Saha has proved himself in the domestic cricket by playing for Bengal and it is an opportunity to prove his talent in the international cricket. Saha is a very good wicket keeper and he needs to put some runs on the board by continuing
his momentum of domestic cricket.
