Gautam Gambhir’s injury may knock him out of the ODI series – Cricket News Update
Gautam Gambhir’s fitness issue comes out with more headlines after, in a recent affair, it was learnt that the Indian opening batsman may be ruled out of the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against the English hosts.
The lefty’s injury initially erupted during the fourth and final Test match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and the Indian tourists at the Kennington Oval on August 22, 2011, where Gambhir suffered a head concussion while back-pedalling in an attempt for Kevin Pietersen’s
catch.
Following the player’s injury, Gambhir went on to suffer from blurry vision problems following which it was reported that the batter was facing difficulties in focusing on objects. The player even complained that he was facing difficulty in focusing on a
fast delivery.
According to Indian team manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nandlal-Shivlal-Yadav-c78587, the official stated “He said that he could not see the ball at times when it came at full speed. He will be taken to an eye specialist in Manchester on Tuesday.”
As a result of his injury, Gambhir even went on to miss the recent two warm up matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 on August 25 and 26 respectively.
However, as for the remaining fixtures against the English hosts, it was believed that Gambhir would make a steady recovery that would keep the batter available for the one-off Twenty20 fixture set to be played in Manchester on August 31, 2011.
As for now, Gambhir is said to have been showing little signs of recovery that has made it very probable for him to miss out on the limited overs bout.
However, all this may come as a surprise to the batter’s fans since it was previously reported that Gambhir received a clearance following a successful MRI scan following which the team’s manager, Yadav had stated “There is nothing in his MRI scan and he
is fit to play the ODI series. However, he has been asked to take some rest and that will take care of everything”.
As for the matter, the player’s state of fitness has even suggested that Gambhir might now also be left out on the upcoming ODI series. Hence, the batsman may have to pack up his gear and head back to the homeland.
