Gauteng Under-19s v Easterns Under-19s - CSA Under-19 Competition – Day 1 – Live Score and Update
Easterns Under-19s 34 v Gauteng Under-19s 345/6 (98.0 ov) - Gauteng Under-19s lead by 311 runs with 4 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
After destroying Easterns Under-19s on a humiliating score of 34, Gauteng Under-19s lead by 311 runs with 4 wickets remaining in the 1st innings after smashing a massive score of 345 for six, at Old Edwardians Cricket Club A Ground, Johannesburg.
After winning the toss Easterns Under-19s made a mistake of choosing to bat first, since they had no idea how the pitch was about to ruin their day, as S Pillay's hat-trick in his first over left the batting side in tatters. The bowler later finished his over with a four-wicket haul, as the batting side still awaited to put a run on the board.
This was then followed by the demise of their fifth wicket with only eight on the board, as N Zondi lost his wicket on a run out after scoring only four runs.
With their main batting line-up already back in the pavilion, they really did not have any hope of surviving the day against this onslaught.
On the penultimate delivery of the next over, KK Themane, hit the showers without scoring as he was caught and bowled by Kruger.
AM Muller, was their highest scorer with 18 runs to his name, as they were run over by Gauteng Under-19s.
With such a successful performance in the field, Gauteng Under-19s launched their innings with a 26-run opening stand, before losing their first wicket on the demise of Y Valli, who was clean-bowled by Mokoena for 11.
Coulentianos was then joined by K Mogotsi as the second-wicket partnership took the score to 77, before the latter, was caught by du Plooy after hitting 16 off 47.
The star of the show, Pillay, then smacked 21 runs to help his side reach 130 before he lost his wicket.
After smashing an astounding knock of 123, W Coulentianos lost his wicket, but he had done enough damage to leave the opposition under stress.
With B Dial hammering 64 and K Melville falling after crafting a knock of 42, the batting side ended the day with J Broodryk on 41 and M Bidli on six.
