At stumps on Friday, the second day of play in the ongoing three-day match between Gauteng and Namibia, the latter lead by 47 runs with all wickets in hand after bowling out Gauteng for 232 at Old Edwardians Cricket Club A Ground, Johannesburg.
After restricting Namibia on 264, Gauteng ended the opening day with nine runs in their first innings without losing a wicket.
Day-two brought more fortunes for them as the overnight pair led the side towards 43 runs, ripping apart the bowlers.
Finally, Namibia’s Klazinga broke the partnership when he dismissed OA Ramela, who had clobbered 30 runs.
Gauteng, were put on the back foot when they lost opener DA Hendricks to Viret after the batsman had scored only 21 runs. At the time of this wicket, the batting side was sitting on 56.

With DP Conway gone for five, S Burger was the next batsman to walk off as he fell after hitting 11 runs, leaving his team stranded with 72 runs on the board.
A run later, M McGillivray was sent back without even opening his account. These were desperate times for the batting side as they needed a stronger partnership in the middle to avoid a humiliating end to their innings.
S Masondo, was disappointing as he perished after scoring only six runs. At the time of this wicket, the side had managed to post only 100 runs on the board.
With Armageddon upon them, skipper R das Neves jabbed an astounding knock of 85, playing a crucial role in his side’s first innings tally.
