It comes from Spain. It is the old spelling of Gabaldon. The name is found most frequently in New Mexico and surrounding states in the US.

Gabaldon is Castilian, usually it is found in the east of Spain, by the mediterranean coast. There is a village called Gabaldon in Cuenca.
