Gavaskar criticizes team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s preparation – Cricket News Update
Former Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Manohar-Gavaskar-c91863 has criticized the preparation of the national team after seeing them lose the opening two Test matches against Australia.
The Men In Blue registered their sixth consecutive defeat in the longer version away from home, after being humiliated by an innings margin by the hosts at the SCG.
It was an embarrassing performance from the tourists who could only manage 191 in their first innings and the bowlers failed to deliver as the Kangaroo team went on to score 659, orchestrated by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978’s stupendous triple ton.
Gavaskar gave his team little chance following their defeat in the first Test, which was staged at the MCG and after a listless display in the second five-day game again, the Indian great has taken his rage to a whole level by criticizing the attitude of the Men In Blue players.
"The first Test ended on the fourth day and the next day was a free day. But did the Indian team practice? I don't think they practiced. Why did they not practice? Nobody knows. Why was this question not asked? These questions need to be asked,” he said.
"The attitude has to be there. There is no attitude to go there. You have to go out there and practice cricket," Gavaskar added.
The current standing sees the Aussies claim a 2-0 lead, which consequently means an end to the Indian dream of claiming their first series win Down Under. The tour which started off with plenty of optimism has quickly turned into h**l in the space of two weeks, following wreckless showing from the sub-continent batters.
The next fixture will be played at the bouncy track of Perth where the former Indian opening batsmen was baffled by stance of the BCCI, who failed to schedule a practice game before the Indians play on the fastest pitch in Australia.
“Should not a two-day game have been organized in Perth because that's the fastest pitch in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746," Gavaskar told NDTV.
Gavaskar also added that the selectors must include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143 in the team, provided he proves his fitness as he will come handy due to his swing generating abilities.
