Gavaskar disappointed after double ton eludes Sehwag – Cricket News Update
Former Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 could not go on to score a double ton in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against England, underway in Ahmedabad since November 15.
After enduring an extended lean patch, the Delhi http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Holly-Louise-Colvin-c63292 off his back, smashing a dazzling 117 from as many deliveries against the Poms, to put India in the driver’s seat on day one of the first Test. However, Gavaskar reckons it would have been better had Sehwag converted that hundred into a double ton.
"It is a pity that he was not able to make a double century. That would have taken away the game from England," said the 63-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 cricketer during a media encounter yesterday.
"I am disappointed, even he will be disappointed. When one gets to a century after a long time, one always likes to go on. It is just a personal disappointment," rued the Indian veteran.

The Indian opener has had a disappointing 2011-12 season, which saw him compiling 384 runs from 13 innings at an unimpressive average of 29.54. The lean run continued in 2012 as well as prior to this century the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 lad had just 252 runs in his name from nine innings.
Gavaskar, who played 125 Tests and 108 One Day Internationals for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 between 1971 and 1987, feels Sehwag’s decision to change his batting style from “See the ball, hit the ball” helped him score the much-awaited Test ton and come out of the patchy phase.
"See the ball, hit the ball - that is not quite the attitude of Test cricket," said the legendary Indian batsman, who was the first ever Test cricketer to get 10,000 runs and 30 centuries. "That he has scored a century after so long means we can expect him to make a few more in not just this series but also in the season ahead," he added further.
