I was initially told i wouldnt need to give sort code/account number or card number, or anything like that by someone, who was supposedly from the O2 mobile network oftering me something. How ever i was later asked for my sort code, at which point i hung up.

Prior to this i had stupidly given my Address, Bank, name as it appears on bank records, and date of birth, and email address. Am i at any risk ?

thanks

  1. It's quite possible.  Keep checking your credit card and bank account by the phone to look for strange activity.  Hopefully you hung up in time and did not give sort code.

  2. Is there a phone number or name of an organizations that shows up on your caller ID? You can do a search for that and see if other people have been scammed by it.

If it is a scam, the sooner you know, the better. Maybe you can call your bank and ask for their advice.
