Gavin Henson vows to revive his career with Cardiff Blues – Rugby News
Highly talented and even more controversial Welsh international professional Rugby Union player, Gavin Henson, has vowed to revive his Rugby Union career with the Cardiff Blues. Henson made
these comments while talking to Wales Online on Thursday, October 27.
Henson has expressed his disappointment on the way his former club, Ospreys, have treated him. He has particularly mentioned his displeasure on the comments made by Ospreys head coach, Scott
Johnson. He said, “I think everyone has seen what Scott Johnson said on TV. It is disappointing but that is the way it goes. I'm a bit disappointed not to be back at the Ospreys but that wasn't meant to be.”
Henson confirmed that he finds it strange for playing in the Cardiff Blues outfit, as he mostly has played with the Ospreys throughout his career. However, he has thanked the club for the confidence
that they have shown at him by giving him the eight-month deal, which has helped him to remain in Wales. He said, “I had a good 10 years down there but it is a new start again for me at the Blues. I need to repay them on the field.”
Earlier this year, Henson failed to secure a long term contract with the French Top 14 outfit, Toulon. Later he was given a chance in the Wales 2011 Rugby World Cup preparations games. However,
he sustained a hand injury, which ruled him out of the tournament, in which Wales eventually ended up fourth.
Henson added that he will be looking forward to a long-term stay at the club and will have an eye on ending his Rugby career with them. He said, “This is going to be my last club and I could
play for a long time. I certainly hope I finish my career here at the Blues. “
The 29-year-old Henson has expressed his desire to represent Wales in the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He made his international debut for Wales in 2001 and is yet to make a Rugby World Cup appearance
for the Wales. He missed the 2003, 2007 and now 2011 tournaments.
Pencoed born Henson is utility backs player and can play at fullback, centre and winger position. However, he is not aware of the position at which he will play for Blues. He is expected to
be fully fit in four weeks time but he has to really work hard to earn a place in the starting xv.
