Gayle assures Sammy of his full support during Sri Lanka tour
Chris Gayle, the former West Indies captain, has reaffirmed his shore up for the newly appointed West Indies captain Darren Sammy, as the side reached Sri Lanka on a challenging tour. Gayle along with some of his fellow cricketers
left for Sri Lanka on Thursday, 4th of November, while the rest of the squad would embark for Sri Lanka today.
Sammy, who has an experience of only eight Tests in his account and has never been a regular member of the Test side, was named West Indies captain last month removing Chris Gayle from his role after Gayle and two others, Dwayne Bravo
and Kieron Pollard turned down the one-year contract offered by the WICB. Bravo, deputy of Gayle was also axed from his position handing over the role of team's vice-captain to Brendan Nash as the.
The antecedent of Sammy greeted best wishes to him for his new role. "It will be a new role for Sammy. I wish him all the best and we will all be there to rally around him and give him the necessary support," said Gayle. "He is the
one who will have to take charge and lead from the front and we all know he is capable. We are all there to try and guide and help him," Gayle added.
Earlier Sammy had also shown confidence in his predecessor and was hopeful that the experienced former captain would guide him through the Sri Lanka tour.
"Ever since I started my career in 2004, Chris has been the one who has made me feel comfortable. I have a good relationship with him, and with most of the players. He has said he will give me and the team his full support, which I know he means."

The tourists, with two World Champ titles in their name, are struggling to regain the glorious periods of past. West Indies tour of Sri Lanka is part of their preparations for the quadrennial event since Sri Lanka is one of the hosts
of next year’s World Cup. During the one and a half month long trip, West Indies will play three Tests, five One Day Internationals and a solitary T20 international against Sri Lanka. The tourists will play a warm-up match at the SSC in Colombo from 10-12
November ahead of the first Test that starts from 15th of this month.
