  1. NOOOOOO do not get gaynors......they are cheat shoes. Basically, pointe shoes are designed to toughen your feet and make you use your foot and go through your foot. Gaynors do that for you and are therefore insuitable for anyone other than professionals as they do not allow you to develop your own foot strength the practically throw you up onto pointe. Yes the look nice but the technicallity of other pointe shoes is non existant....as a ballet dancer i highly suggest you do not purchase gaynor mindens.

  2. gaynor mindens are no different than any other pointe shoes. they aren't cheat shoes. they are just more comfortable than other brands.

i use gaynor mindens and my ankles are SUPER strong. i'm not losing any strength no matter what anyone says. if you do get gaynor mindens and really don't trust them then just do theraband exercises to ensure that your feet will still be strong even if you switch pointe shoes.

  3. gaynor mindons have a foam pad in the toe. it cushions the joints, making pointe dancing feel less painful. this seemingly makes them "cheat shoes." i met a dancer for American Ballet Theatre once when those first came out and she really liked them but then again, she's professional. and most likely trained wearing normal pointe shoes.

i have to agree with the first response. it won't keep your feet pretty--you'll still get blisters and bruises. more importantly, you don't want to cheat your way through building strength for pointe shoes.
