I found this interesting, I'm g*y and I showed gender nonconformist behavior when I was a child. I liked Barbie, playing with my play kitchen, playing dress up, etc. Anyways, over 75% of people who were gender nonconformists as children turn out to be g*y. Scientists don't know for sure what causes gender nonconformity, but it may provide the basis that being g*y is inborn. One theory is that children who are gender noncomists associate with the opposite s*x instead of their own gender, and later on they develop an attraction to the same s*x as a result. But whatever it is, you can't prevent a child from being a gender noncomists, since it just comes naturally to them, as it did for me.

But, did any of you guys exhibit gender noncomformity behavior as children?

  1. im a girl...i was a tomboy as a kid, i did like girls things sometimes but I loved (an dstill do) climbing trees i had always wanted a short haircut(i have one now ) i wore big baggy clothes

idk it may have been cause i had 2 older brothers haha

  2. I wasn't into sports or anything but i wasn't into dolls or that stuff either. I was mostly into piano and singing. But i personally believe that gender roles are bull and we just just be who we are.

  3. The nearest I came to gender nonconformity was wanting a GIJane to go with my GIJoes because I didn't think it was fair that women couldn't be GIJoes.  Other than that... nope.

There are a LOT more g**s who are not gender nonconformist than that are as children, btw.  So its kind of a oneway comparison.

    Kind thoughts,

  4. ooh. thats quite interesting ahha.

i always played with action men and stuff,

and like grand theft auto, and driver on the playstation,

i'd always play with cars, and me and my dad would always go to rally's and stuff.

i was always playing football and stuff with the boys lol.

    thats interesting lol :)

  5. I sure did! I loved playing with dolls and I wanted to have long hair and wear makeup and stuff. And it was all natural to me.

I always thought that girls had better looking clothes than us boys, so I liked playing dress up too.

Gender non-conformist! I love that idea. That's interesting!

How about now, do you still feel that way?

I do. I always thought that maybe it was because I was born the wrong gender but that's not it. I don't want to be a woman. I just like stuff that's considered "female" things like makeup and purses/bags (which I carry). Why should women have all the fun?

  6. I exhibited a little gender conformity and a little gender non-conformity mostly however, I was neither.

  7. yes, i ALWAYS liked 2 play dress-up ! - & STILL DO !!!  - (& other girly stuff !)

  8. I did. I was a very effeminate boy, very quiet. I hardly ever played with the boys and many of my friends were girls. I liked playing with things that girls usually play with. It was very easy to make me cry. I'm bi though but I still count, don't I?

  9. I'm an artist (graphic designer) so I've always been creative. I liked building things with modular kits (like Tog'l and Capsela, two toys that very few younger people will know of or remember) as well as plastic models, a model train set and a lot of my own little creations. I've always been relatively quiet and independent. I did (and still do) like to sew and I enjoy cooking, especially baking cookies, pies, cakes and desserts. I tried Boy Scouts for a while but that didn't really pan out in the long run.

  10. i have watched soap operas all my life

  11. I did.

  12. I looked back at my life when I first realized i was g*y, and found that yes, i did alot of things that boys don't do. That is a little strange, but that could be a relevant statement, that gender nonconformity could lead to homosexuality, or be a sign of homosexuality.

  13. Yes. I did very much so :)

I used to watch my mom put on makeup at a young age

& I was so fascinated with it. So when she went to work I would go to her bathroom and put her makeup on. I loved it :) I did it any chance I could. I got very good at it & I still love it. I do my sisters makeup almost every morning.

this started at a really young age

  14. yes, I did. but so didn't my older brother and he is straight.

  15. My brother and I (I am a female) both strayed from traditional gender roles as children. I went camping, climbed trees at every opportunity, and relished at the chance to dress as a boy.  He stayed inside and played with my neglected Barbies and pretended to keep house.

    What do you know? I'm a L*****n and I'm fairly certain he's g*y.

As we grew older we began to also adopt more socially acceptable traits: I act and dress fairly feminine and he is more masculine.  However, we still hold onto our love of nonconformity.

  16. Me! I had "girl" toys and boy toys. But I played with my tea/kitchen sets a lot more. Then when my sister got dolls, I played with them. When we played "house" I always insisted on being the mommy. I would also dress up in my mom's clothes and dance on Indian Movie tunes. It was fun.

I was very feminine when I was young. Most people thought I was a girl with very short hair. But as I grew up, I got "manlier." I picked up sports and got all hairy! lol. A lot of the changes were also on intention, so I could keep myself from being picked on by others. Now I have no interest in those things. I was never really interested in fashion and all that jazz.

  17. I played Barbie with my sister, but I'd always play with Ken doll naked (LOL!), after I started playing with Ken for a while I became attached, and took him everywhere. To bed. To bathe. lol, like a real couple. My sister got mad at me when I took her Ken, so Mom got her another. And then I took him! xD I think I did that for about a year. I ended up with five Ken's and my sister kept one hidden from me. We were a happy family. <3 And I hated leaving the clothes on them. xD

Let's see, when I was older I loved Easy Bake kitchen, dressing up, computer games where you'd decorate ponies.

Then when I was older... I was scared to keep playing with the things I loved, so I played some more boyish things to keep kids from making fun of me.
