Gcfi outlets tripped or not working?

My kitchen has 2 gcfi outlets, one is not working at all and won't even reset and the other trips when the microwave is turned on . . what is the likely cause?

  1. Unplug the microwave, then reset the gfci, if it holds then the microwave is bad. Otherwise replace the gfci.  Since you have multiple  gfci on the same circuit, they must be wired so they are both always on the line, not one protecting the next unit.  If you still have problems, call  a qualified professional electrician to do the work.


  2. Microwave only one circuit for reason that it draws 17 amps. The other circuit make sure that there is no short on it.

  3. a GFI will not restet without power going to it check the main breaker panel and see if ones tripped.

    It may also be fed from another gfi (not code) that has tripped
