okay im currently homeschooled and have just started year ten and incase you didnt already know year ten is when your supposed to start your gcse coursework well we still have no idea what to do? where to get the cousework from? we went to open learning but it was gonna cost £1300+ and i only want to do three subjects - english, english literature and french? ive searched on google and there are coursework sites that provide you online coursework for only £4.99 a month but im not sure if its proper coursework? because i need the proper stuff so i can get a good education..

so we dont mind paying just not as much as open learning? it also dosent matter if its deliverd to our door or if its an online course? also if there is a site available but it dosent have all the subjects i want thats fine i can work around that please still recommend it.

so can someone who has been homeschooled and done there gcse's please answer.. many thanks

  1. Go directly to the exam boards and ask them, eg AQA, NEAB, WJEC, OCR.

You might want to consider that most jobs nowadays always ask for English, Maths and Science GCSE.

None of my business, but why not just enrol in a high school?

  2. First, where will you be doing the actual GCSE exam? I know that most subjects offer a no coursework option and also, many schools do not allow external students to submit coursework. Therefore, you might consider taking a no-coursework exam, it will give you the same opportunities only it will also have an extension to make up for the coursework.

Most of the exam boards also outline the rules and theme of coursework so look at the website for the exam board with which you will be taking the exam and you will most likely be able to find coursework to suit your needs.

You can also find some coursework here:

    English (language and literature) http://www.gcse.com/english/index.htm

    French http://www.gcse.com/french/index.htm

(in French it is definitely an option to do a no coursework exam - all you require is an extended writing part at the end)

Edit: Coursework is set primarily by the teachers. The exam boards merely give a few guidelines. Just check the coursework against the exam board guidelines (on board websites) or you can even set yourself your own coursework. Good luck.
