Gcse maths help please!?

I've had 8 hours worth of past papers to do over the holidays and I'm stuck on some questions. I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks! (I got the questions in welsh, so i apologise if the english isn't very good!)

1) A dice is thrown twice. What's the probability 3 will show the 2 times.

2) Mary has scored 91 out of 140 in a test. What % is this?

3)Ioan has x dvd's

Siwan has got 3 times as much as Ioan

Anwen has 10 more dvd's than Ioan, and Heulwen has 8 less than Ioan. Together they have 110 dvd's

Write the formula that satisfy's x, and use the formula to find out how many DVDs Ioan has.

4) Rearrange the unequal formula 3 - 3n<9-5n on the fform n< any number.

1) the probability of any no. to on one dice is 1/6

therefore the probability= 1/6*1/6

= 1/36

2) %age= (part/ total)*100

= (91/140)*100

=65%

3) Loan= x

siwan=3x

anwen= x+10

heulwen= x-8

x+3x+(x+10)+ (x-8)= 110

4x+ x+10+ x-8= 110

6x+2=110

6x= 108

x=18

loan has 18 DVDs

4)3-3n&lt; 9-5n

-3n+5n&lt;9-3

2n&lt;6

n&lt;3

Q1) How many sides are there to the dice? A three is only 1 side. So no matter how many times you role the dice, the probability is always going to be the same.

Q2  - 91 is less than 140, so you know the percentage is going to be less than 100%. So you might want to divide  one of those numbers by the other and then multiply to give you the percentage.

Answer 3

1. The probability if getting a 3 on a dice is 1/6. Therefore, the probability of getting a 3 the second time also is calculated by doing: 1/6 x 1/6 = 1/36.

2. (91/140) x 100 = 65%

3. loan = x

Siwan = 3x

Anwen = x + 10

Heulwen = x - 8

x + 3x + x + 10 + x - 8 = 110

                        6x + 2 = 110

                              6x = 110 - 2

                                x = 108 / 6

                                x = 18

So, x = 18 and therefore, Loan has 18 dvds.

4. 3 - 3n &lt; 9 - 5n                       [bring 5n to the other side]

    3 - 3n + 5n &lt; 9 - 5n + 5n

          3 + 2n &lt; 9                       [bring the 3 to the other side]

     3 + 2n - 3 &lt; 9 - 3

               2n &lt; 6                       [ divide both sides by 2]

                n &lt; 3

1. there is 1 3 on a 6 sided dice so... thats 1/6th

the you do it again- 1/6th. so.. 1/6th+1/6th=1/3rd

2.   91/140=0.65 then 0.65*100=65     65%

3.   loan=x

     Siwan=3x

     Anwen=x+10

     Heulwen=x-8

            =110

thats all i can do on that one sorry...

4. give N a number lets just say n=2

3-(3*2)=  -3   &lt;  9-(5*2) = -1

N=2

i think thats right- the first 2 are definetely right. Not 100% sure on the other 2 but try and make sense of it.
