IM going back to college in September, but i need to retake GCSE maths. Because of my very server learning difficulties and Dyslexia i found maths gcse very difficult and got a Grade G . Is there any point in re taking it, i re took English and got a grade C, but maths is my major weakness. I was on GCSE maths this year but dropped out because of it being too difficult and the teacher being very un supportive, also lack of self believe. My maths tutor said if i put in the effort i could pass, so should i re take, but i need to pass this time because im one year away from university. Maths is such a highly important qualification to have in todays society, it will mean a lot because i have done so well achieving the following city and guilds foundation level 1 and level 2, btec first diploma and btec national certificate in sport science and now possibility of going to university. My parents say im an inspiration and most would have left and gone to work,.

  1. Believe your maths teacher, believe your parents, believe in yourself. Could you imagine how you would feel getting a pass, you are right, maths is important your whole life so I urge you to give it your best shot.

Some people take five times to pass driving tests, but can now drive. Don't give up. Good luck. Terry.

  2. You said it yourself, it is very important, so my answer is yes!

You must do it. You may have dyslexia, but you cant let this stop you, you cant!!

Next time if you have the same teacher as more questions and ask for their support.

Do you believe in yourself that you can do this?

If you think you can, you WILL.

First you need to conquer yourself, then others, this time work harder and do more exercises and if something seems hard you can always ask a teacher, friend, parent, even Y!A.

Good luck to you, i hope you pass with an A*!!

  3. Yeah go for it! It's so worth trying it again. I'm sure you could get extra tutoring in maths and if your dyslexia is really bad most schools run courses to help pupils deal with it. I know the school I went to had a department for people with learning difficulties and dyslexia.
