Gears of War 3 and F1 2011 make strong debuts in United Kingdom’s sales charts
Microsoft and Codemasters both released their respective titles this previous week and it was interesting to see whether anyone would bother picking up F1 2011, when Gears of War 3 was releasing in the same period. The results, it seems, threw up a few surprises
but nothing shocking either.
505 Games’ Rugby World Cup 2011 managed to sell enough across all platforms to finish the previous week on the number 10 spot. One can expect the title to stay in the chart for another week at the very least.
Disney will be mighty proud as Lego Pirates of the Caribbean manages to maintain a steady stream of revenue for its publisher as it settles in at the number nine spot.
The end to a trilogy which began the day the PlayStation 3 was released, the Resistance series has finally ended with a fitting concluding chapter by the name of Resistance 3. Being a PlayStation exclusive title and managing to finish in the top 10 of the
overall charts is not an easy feat.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is continuing its trend from the previous week as it continues to slip down the charts. This week, it settles in at number seven and one can expect it to drop even lower around this time next week.
Tanner comes in at number six, as the protagonist for the infamous Driver series returns to consoles with Driver: San Francisco. The game has been very well received by both critics and gamers alike; something that is reflected in its sales figures.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is showing that augmentations can actually improve a number of things. In this case, one of those things is sales, as Square Enix’s title has managed to move enough copies to come in at number five.
Like a plague that refuses to go away, Zumba Fitness is hovering around the top spots in the overall sales charts. It makes regular gamers worry what the world is coming too.
Last week’s best selling game, Dead Island, has ended its reign at the top spot and has to settle for third position, which can only mean two things. Firstly, that there are two new games which have taken over the top two spots and secondly, that there is
something more compelling for gamers than zombies.
Finishing runner-up for the previous week is F1 2011, which is being hailed by fans and critics. On the other hand, breaking all the records for its previous two instalments is the conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy. So, that is it for another week as
Gears of War 3 is the new number one in the overall United Kingdom sales charts.
