Gears of War 3 ending the Old Spice Guy’s version of it at least
The Old Spice Guy may have legions upon legions of fans, but it turns out that a large majority of those may hate him at the moment, or would they be able to overlook the fact that the hunk gave away the ending to one of the most eagerly anticipated games
of the year?
The outcry began after a recent advert in which he gave away the ending to, the as yet unreleased, Gears of War 3. Luckily though, it turned out to be a parody rather than the disaster many thought (including us) it seemed to be heading towards at the start
of the advert.
According to the Old Spice Guy, the game would see him have a bulletproof torso, as well as revealing that at the end of the game ‘war is rejected’.
It was at this point that fans breathed a disappointed sigh of relief; disappointed because they did not get to hear the ending and relieved that the game had not been ruined for them. Also, he refers to Gears of War as a first person shooter, which anyone
who has not been living under a rock will know is not the genre GOW belongs to.
If fans are confused as to why the shirtless man went ahead and did an advert that has nothing to do with the deodorant, the reason is as simple as is it is entertaining: the Old Spice Guy will be a playable character in the game’s multiplayer, though it
is still unconfirmed at this point whether he will be shirtless or covered from head to toe in armour.
That is not all that has been going on between the game and the internet sensation, as he seems to be in touch with the game’s developers on Twitter. Cliff Bleszinski, the design director at Epic Studios, who tweeted asking if the Old Spice Guy’s “ripping
abs will bounce the bullets of the Locust Horde back upon them.”
While one cannot be so sure if that would be such a good idea in terms of gameplay, the thought does seem kind of fun. Imagine everyone running around shooting a shirtless guy in a towel, with any shots fired at him deflecting and hitting other players.
On second thought, maybe it is not such a good idea after all.
It was a light bit of news, which no doubt left the fans of the game amused, but moving on to more serious matters it seems that the game is shaping up to be a best seller even before its release.
Gears of War 3 is currently the top ranked Pre-Order title in the United States of America, beating off competition from both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3.
