Gears of War 3 gets Epic and Limited Editions: Details
Microsoft seems to be throwing all of its significant marketing weight behind the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise, after announcing two special editions for Marcus Fenix’s latest battle against the Locust horde.
Already at the top of the Pre-Order charts in the United States of America, Gears of War 3 looks set to surpass the impressive sales figures put up by its predecessor. The game has beaten both, Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Electronic Arts’
Battlefield 3, in the Pre-Order chart by a significant margin.
Microsoft seem to have responded to the demand for the game by announcing both an Epic Edition for the game, as well as a Limited Collector’s Edition.
Starting with the Epic Edition:
This edition of the game will already have everything already present in the Limited Edition and will set players back around £100, which is around 40 more than the Limited Edition.
Chris Perna, the Art Director at Epic Games, has designed a special Marcus Fenix Statue which stands at 11.2 inches tall and is around 8.9 inches in diameter and is set to weigh 3.7 lb (or 1.7kg).
Apart from that and all the goodies from the Limited Edition, it will also have an exclusive ‘Art and Design of Gears of War by Tom Bissell’ which will give gamers a behind-the-scenes look and the game.
There is also DLC content made available with the purchase, as the Epic Edition comes with the Infected Omen Weapon Pack. The pack allows players to cover their five favourite weapons with custom skins.
There is also the more affordable, but not-so-Epic, Limited Edition, which boasts:
A real life 1:1 scale replica medal, which was given to Marcus Fenix’s father, Adam Fenix, for ‘his work Hammer of Dawn,’ as well as an unlockable character (Adam Fenix) and a COG Flag fabric.
Also included in the pack will be various personal effects of Adam, which range from schematics of the initial Hammer of Dawn to his “Last Will and Testament.”
Gears of War 3 is scheduled for release on the 30th of September.
