Following his country’s exit from the 2012 European Championship, the right-back completed his switch to Bundesliga.

The Czech International impressed during the European Championship. He featured in Czech Republic’s entire Group A fixtures. The defender has made a total of 14 appearances for Michal Bilek’s side.
He was also subjected to racist abuse from Russian fans, during his sides clash with d**k Advocaat’s. The full-back joined Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee and signed a four-year deal with the German club.
Werder Bremen sporting director Thomas Schaaf revealed that despite being chased by several other clubs, Gebre decided to join Die Werderaner. He also expressed his delight at witnessing some fine performances from the defender
at the European Championship.
"We are pleased that we were able to convince Selassie to join us despite having several other offers. He is a very talented right-back who confirmed our good impression of him with some good performances at the European Championship,"
he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The player also expressed his delight at joining such a big club with a rich history. He vowed to emulate his form from the last season and Euro 2012. Selassie states he felt obliged to join Werder Bremen due to the stability and
popularity of the club and wants to fire the club back to the top four of Bundesliga.
"The decision to join Werder Bremen was the right thing to do. This is a club with a lot of stability and tradition, who always set their goals high. I would like to emulate here my successful season at Liberec."
Gebre Selassie’s transfer follows the singing of Lukimya, the centre half from Fortuna Dusseldorf. More signings are expected to follow, as the club have let go of a few of their players. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324 joined Bayern Munich a
week ago and now Boenisch is expected to move to Stuttgart.
In order to compete with the likes of Schalke and Stuttgart, Bremen will have to make a few attacking signings to replace the departing stars, otherwise they will lag further behind, and could get relegated if the manager does
not decide to invest in bringing new players to the club.
