  1. In order to go to college on a  GED you have to get a certain score. Email the dean of admissions at the college and ask them what scores they accept for admission..

You still have to take the ACT, though unless it is a community college.

If you have 17 credits, why don't you do a free or cheap night school program? I don't know what they are like in your state,  but in mine they are only $40 for the whole thing and you get a diploma, not just a ged.

It doubtful you can get a full ride scholarship with a ged. They usually give those to diploma students since they have grades, but you might be able to get a smaller scholarship using the grades from you 17 credits.

  2. I can't think of any university that will accept you without an actual diploma or SAT scores.  I would strongly recommend going to a community college which doesn't require a diploma or SAT scores,(they're easy to get into) because for the first 1 1/2 years you'll be taking 'core classes' which all students must take. They're classes like English, History, Sociology, etc.  They are much cheaper at a community college, then when you've taken all the credits that'll transfer , you can transfer right into a university pretty easily and you'll already have 1/2 your schooling behind you at a fraction of the cost the university would have charged for those same classes.  Make sure you take core classes that will transfer...all the classes I mentioned above will transfer - don't take ones that won't transfer, like arobics or photography!  You can get advice from the community college ...or the university you plan to attend later..on which classes the university will give you credit for when you transfer from the community school. Hope that helps....I know it's more than what you asked for...but I hate to see people waste their money!

  3. I as well have a GED. What I found to be the easiest route to getting into a good university is community college. Around here the local community college has a transition program that is approved by James Madison University. You pick your major for an Associate in Arts or Science. You complete all of their program guidelines and after you complete your degree, you are guaranteed to be eligible for enrollment in JMU to complete a 4 or six year program with those credits standing behind you.

Or, I don't know where you live but you can enroll somewhere like National College of Business and Technology. You pass their entrance exam and you can take any program that they offer. They also offer a good financial aid package if you qualify. I attend there for a diploma in Phlebotomy then I will work on my Associates in Surgical Technology. And with my eligibility, everything is covered by grants and Federal student loans, no out of pocket money.
